What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?

Neuro Linguistic Programming, or NLP, was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s and is now used by many famous people including Tony Robbins, Bill Gates, Tiger Woods, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Clinton. NLP is based on the connection between our neurology, language, and behavior patterns. We are “programmed” at a very early age to believe certain things, think a certain way, behave a certain way, and even eat a certain way. These deeply ingrained attitudes, beliefs, values, and behaviors combined with our memories and past decisions make us who we are today and shape the way we experience the world.

Change is difficult because our subconscious mind is literally programmed a certain way. If we want to behave differently, we need to change our programming.  It usually isn’t enough to “want” to lose weight because willpower lives at the conscious level. We need to get down to the subconscious level, where habits live, to really make the change happen.

What should a client look for when hiring a NLP Practitioner?

It is highly recommended that you only work with NLP Practitioners who attended a comprehensive training program  and has demonstrated the highest degree of competence and skill.

It is also recommended that the NLP Practitioner is certified by be the American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (ABNLP). The ABNLP only certifies practitioners who attended comprehensive training programs and completed an extensive examination.

Which NLP techniques work well for weight loss?

Depending on the root cause of your issue, we may use one or several different NLP techniques. Anchoring, swish patterns, like to dislike scripts, and belief change scripts are all popular NLP techniques that work well for weight loss.

What is the recommended length of time to work with a NLP Practitioner on lifestyle modification?

This will vary significantly from one person to the next; however, a typical session will average 60 minutes and a minimum of 3 sessions is recommended to see best results.
